64-Year-Old Woman Struck, Killed Crossing Jefferson Street

A 64-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing Route 15 in Jefferson on Saturday, police said.

Anne Belcastro of Lake Hopatcong got out of the passenger seat of a car at the intersection of Berkshire Valley Road and began walking west across the highway around 5:30 p.m. when she was struck, Sgt. Joseph Kratzel said.

The 47-year-old Andover driver had a green light, Kratzel added.

Belcastro was taken to St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, where the sergeant said she was pronounced dead.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office and Jefferson police were investigating.
